Smart Mom Contest

Today was Annual Day of play school of our kid. We visited Kamani Auditorium to attend the function. School also organized a contest for mothers i.e. SMART MOM CONTEST. I was also one of the contestants. Since my childhood I came across many contests but this was totally different one. I was excited but bit nervous too as after a long time I was about to face a large audience.

We reached at 4.30 PM. After few performances of kids as scheduled the contest started. Judges took their place. After the first contestant, my name was called for first round. I took the deep breath and answered the question. I was not expecting that I will clear this round. Some of the moms have answered terrifically well. So I was sure I will not be selected. But hey! I was surprised to know my name in the second round of the contest. Now second round started. One of the judges asked me “What’s your sweet dream that yet to be fulfilled and what’s your biggest achievement so far.?”

My answer was:

Good evening parents and judges.

I am Anuradha Kumar, Ayush Kumar’s mother. My husband is in IT profession. We both try to give best platform to our child to grow. Few months back we started searching for play school for our child. Our criteria were affordable fees, less distance and good environment. Our search came to an end when we visited Blooming Flowers. Now my child is a part Blooming Flowers Family.

Everybody has some dream that they want it to be fulfilled. Dream gives us burning desire and develops an attitude that gives us energy. They give meaning to our lives. It gives us very nice feeling when we think of it. But how many of us work for our dream to make it real. Some of us never take any step due to fear of failure. Only people with vision work hard & overcome all barriers to make their dream true. In short only those people succeed who learn from their failure and bounce back again with more energy.

I was brought up in very supportive environment and I have always been a career oriented girl. I dreamt of being a successful entrepreneur. I did job as HR person for 3 yrs and but decided to leave my job on the birth my loving child. Leaving job was my own decision but still I was not happy from inside. Something was missing and some sort of battle was going in me. Then I decided to start something of own and make my dream of being successful entrepreneur true. I already prepared the ground required for this and put myself get going. I am not denying of challenges I might face but yes I will not give up this time.

I am appealing to all moms, not to give up your hope and your dream, move on. I am very much confident that you all capable of making your dream happening along with family.

I believe, smart mom is one who manages all things well despite of challenges she faces.

Wish me luck and pray for me, so that I get success.

If my dream gets fulfilled, this would my biggest achievement I ever had.

Bad luck this time, I was not in the list of three finalists. But it’s ok. At least I cleared the first round. This contest arose one question in my mind “Can these few question can determine whether one mom is smart or not”. I don’t know this entire thing. I know one thing only I love my child so much.

Developing Learning Habits

Yesterday I took my son in a nearby park, there; I was speaking to lady who lives in our building about schools and kids problem. While discussion about the homework, she said she use to complete his son homework sometimes. On this I asked her. Hey why? She answered “homework has to be done that’s why”. I was shocked to know her views and thoughts.

These things are dangerous for a child. This way child will never take study seriously. Study habits have to be developed at early stage. I understand that teaching good habits and good behavior is not easy but not difficult also if steps are taken at early stage.

We have to develop their interest in study first. The more they are comfortable with idea of learning, the more they will be interested in knowing the things and completing their homework by their own.

At home I usually observed my son writing on newspaper and sometime drawing lines by pencil or crayons. Now he gets homework. In initial days I really found difficult to make him seat to complete his homework. He gets sleeping lines, straight lines etc. in his homework. This seems easy for us but not easy for 2.5yr child. For few starting days I had to negotiate with him, I only offer his dear things, once he completes his homework. He usually likes chips and sweets. Within 3-4 days he started completing his work by own without any negotiation under my guidance.

I learnt one thing from my experience that, to teach a toddler requires lots of patience. Now he developed the habit of doing his homework.
Yes it’s difficult to make a child to develop habit of doing homework but patience, dedication and love for your child definitely help you to do so.

Here are some points that I am sharing with you, which I gained from my experience.
-Always try to make study interesting.
-Whenever you go out, discuss the surroundings, nature and other study related topics with them. But don’t stress them too much.
-Make them understand about the importance of education and discuss with them about some famous personality who are successful as they were good in studies.
-Always encourage them, that they are capable of doing things. Also help them to find out easy way of doing things.
-Boost their self confidence.
-Please reward them on their achievement as it is also way of encouraging them to keep the good work going.

Which is better option , buying a house or to live on rent?

We all need house, now choice has to make by us that whether we want to stay on rent or want to purchase. Both the option has their unique set of cost attached. So we have to evaluate the option accordingly.

These days the difference between the EMI and rental is the minimum. Moreover real estate price are stable these days. We can expect further rise in real estate but no decline for coming few years. If an individual stay on rent, he could be paying good amount of money which in short get wasted. On other hand if one choose to buy a house by taking loan then after stipulated period he will own a house. Own house is an asset and serve as security for old age and also good investment.

Sometimes people resort to wait and watch situation but if real estate price start increasing, about what the chances are high, those people won’t able to purchase a house as it will get much costlier which their pocket may not afford.

So, purchasing one’s own accommodation makes sense in these times.

10 simple steps to cut down your spending

Many times we wonder to see our neighbor or relatives who have low income but afford the entire necessary item which people with high income find difficult to plan. Reason could be that those people may have found better way to cut on expenses and are able to save much more to buy the things they strongly desire.

My husband has just started learning how to drive from a local driving school. During conversation with him, he found that he has 2 LIG flats in vicinity where we cannot afford even one and not only this, he also own 2 Janta flats and 3-4 taxis. Still he is running a small driving school and teaches people driving. He has managed everything he has today from his own savings. Despite of this, he is still living in janta flats so that he can manage to save more money for his kids and rented the LIG flats.

Here are 10 simple steps to cut down spending

 Always visit different places to compare prices for any bulk purchase.

 Avoid taking children when planning to shop groceries item as they would fill the shopping cart with unwanted stuff.

 Avoid purchasing items just because some offer is going.

 Never buy a toy or game just because your child is through temper in the middle of market area.

 Avoid going out daily for meals. Better option is to cook food at home and create dinning out experience right from the comfort of your home. Try to cut down your entertainment allowance.

 Plan your goals and try to invest with help of professional. This will ensure that a part of earning will get saved every month.

 Keep watch on every spending by keeping watch on expences. This will help you to cut down useless expenses which are not at all that important.

 Do not borrow to spend .Better option is to use debit card.

 Save electricity by using it to limit it is required. Switch off fans/lights and other appliances if it is not required.

 Review your phone bill every month to find out unnecessary calls which can be avoided.

Gist is that, decide some monthly budget. Celebrate or go out for a surprise party with kids if there is money left at the end of the month. That gives this exercise a positive spin.

Chath Puja

Many of us must have heard about chath puja but do not know why it is celebrated and its significance. Chath puja is one of the important and popular festivals of Bihar and Eastern UP. It is celebrated with high esteem by the people. The chhat puja is dedicated to Chhatti Mai (Goddess of Power) and to Lord Surya (Sun), Agni (fire) and Lord Kartikeya. It is celebrated twice a year: in the summers called the Chaiti Chhath, because it is celebrated in Chait month by hindi calendar. It is not very popular though. Second and main in the winter after Deepawali, called the Kartik Chhath. Just 6 days after Diwali. It is believed that whosoever performs this vrat get their wishes fulfilled. This fast is mostly done by the women but gents also do it. It is done with utmost care without having water for the well being and happiness of the family. It is celebrated for four days in the month of Kartik.

First Day of Chath is Nahai Khai (Literally means “Bath and Eat”)
On this day women clean the houses and surroundings. The main food cooked on this day is rice, chana daal and gourd as Prasad with dry wood on new oven made of brick and soil and worshiper offers Prasad to the sun God. Garlic and Onions are not used during Chhat puja.

Second Day of Chath is Kharna.
Fast begins with second day and this day is known as kharna. In the evening during the sun set, worshiper performs the puja and breaks their fast with Prasad prepared, like sweet kheer, pitha, dudh. Again the fasting begins after the Prasad is shared among the family members and belongings and is broken on the morning of the fourth day.

Third Day of Chath is called Pahli Argh-All family members and relatives accompany the worshiper to worship sun usually on the bank of river or any other water bodies and argh is offered to lord surya along with “soop” containing flowers, fruits, radish, sugarcane and other Prasad by standing in knee deep water. All people around take the blessing of worshiper. Regional Chath songs are sung by ladies on this occasion.

Fourth Day of Chath is called Suryodaya Arag.-
In the morning again worshiper offer arag to the rising Sun God. After performing puja worshiper break their fast by eating Prasad. After this Prasad is distributed among all.

School Admission

Today was a hectic day for me. In the morning I woke up at 6 am and started my day with my kitchen work. My son’s interview was scheduled for today at 2PM in DPS Vasundhra. I was quite excited as well as nervous. I prepared breakfast as soon as possible. Doing my entire kitchen and other household chores I really got tired. My in-laws had just came 2 days back so we were full family today. So it was a fun time for Ayush. As we live as a nuclear family over here so whenever someone visits our place, Ayush feels good as he get lots of people to play. He was also busy playing with his grandparents and in playing he was got too involved that he was not willing to take breakfast. I tried my best to feed him but I was helpless. This was adding to my worries.

At 1pm we all left for the school. Around 1.30 we reached there. My son Ayush was excited. He asked me “mama, is that my school, bada wala Na”. He was enjoying there, to see swings, see saw and lovely lawns. We reached the reception and completed the formalities. I liked the arrangement that the school has made. All teachers were very cordial & supportive. One of the teachers asked Ayush his name. He answered promptly. He surprised me as I was not expecting that he will answer so fast. Some school children were there on duty to make atmosphere friendly for the kids who were there for the admission. Ayush was called for the interaction. I also joined my son as he started pulling me when teacher was taking him to the class. One of the teachers asked him to seat on a chair and I was standing little far from him.

She started asking some question to him:
Identify the fruit.
Sing any poem.
Identify the Shape
What your name.
Identify the picture of kite and color with violet color.

He took time to adjust to the new environment, and answered all question correct except the name of the color asked. Actually I had taught him main color only. Still I was satisfied by his interaction with the teacher.

In second round we were called to meet the principle. This time me and my husband had to answer.
She asked:

Why this school?
Where we live?
What we expect from the school?

Interview was over and result will be declared after two days. I visited the school again to see the result. I was happy to see his name there.

Joint Family System

Why today’s women prefer nuclear family? Or why women’s feel uncomfortable in joint family?
Firstly every woman wants separate house where she will be the master and other family member should obey her. This could not be easily possible in joint family. That’s why most of the women prefer to live in separate house with their children and husband.

Secondly these days most of the women are career oriented and prefer to do job. Working women find difficult to prepare food for so many people in the family. So to avoid troublesome maintenance of kitchen for large number of people, prefer to live in nuclear family to fulfill her carrier.

Thirdly no educated women can tolerate the adverse remarks passed by the sister in-law and mother in-law.

Why joint family?
But if we learn to compromise a little and try to be supportive, a joint family can be better option compared to nuclear family. A harmonic joint family provides good support both in terms of emotion and finance. In joint family all responsibility is shared by all members equally. Hence its better option to stay in joint family where both partners have to work due to rising cost of living. Children are brought up easily under good guidance of the grandparents and old people are taken care of easily too. Working parents get enough time for them. Even children also develop habit of sharing and helping each other.

How to Make Your Wife Love You Much More

Many husbands want to know how to make their wife to love them much more. It’s very difficult question to be answered. We may have heard from others saying that “it’s difficult to study’s the women’s mind”. Is this correct? Not the women’s but it’s also difficult to study men’s mind. Every woman is different, so there is no “one” answers applicable for this. A husband has to study his wife’s mind fully. There will be times when your wife may be in depression or in tension or bad mood for no valid reason even she might not know why she is so puzzled and depressed. Like man, women also have some traits.

Very few husbands may know that during periods and pregnancy, hormones imbalances causes mood swings in women. During this time you need to understand your wife emotion and act accordingly. You need to help her in household chores, demonstrate her how much you love her, how much she is important to your life. Small things like preparing a cup of tea and bringing a bunch of flower of her choice will add more sweetness in your married life. Every husband should try to avoid argument even if he feels that he is rational. Husbands should not feel ashamed in saying sorry if he feels he was wrong. If situation comes when debate get heated, then it’s better to discuss the situation once atmosphere get conducive for further discussion.

Husband should never lift his hand on his wife even in worse situation and try to understand the situation from wife point of view. It’s difficult to predict wife mind every time even no can do. For successful marriage both partner should try to compromise. Both should understand that everything they are doing is for the person to whom they love so much. The more important thing is love each other without any condition.

These few things and your little initiative will fill her heart with love for you.

How to say “no” to the child and stick to it.

As parents we may have experienced the situation where our child starts throwing a temper in order to get what they want. Most of the time we get them the things that they want just because of embarrassment we may have to go if our child throw themselves on the floor and start shouting. But is it right approach? Or should parents say strictly no to their child’s demand?

We should keep one thing in mind that if we always say “no” to them they will get frustrated, irritated and rebellious. As we are the parents we have to decide first “Is their demand reasonable?” If yes, there is very much ground to say yes to the child and fulfill their demands. Saying yes most of the time will make them to take our “no” seriously. All we know that children are very soft hearted and always expect love from their parents. Tackling child is the challenge for every parent. But we should not satisfy their demands which are not reasonable as this behavior of parents may let the child to manipulate their parents.

If we feel that their demand is not reasonable, we should strictly say “no” and should stick to our “no” even if our child start throwing their fit. Saying no is ok but we should explain why we have said “no” to them. If the child is in anger and not listening to you, it’s better to be calm and let your child also get calm down then explain them the reason but stick to your “no”.

As a parent we have to set rules and disciplines but should not hurt our child. We should also let the child to learn from their mistake but should keep our eye on them so that they do not put them in danger or any serious problem.

All this really seems interesting to everyone as everyone us wants to make money as fast as we can. Owners of the site are the only who get benefited from these sites and article. These are only marketing strategy nothing else and by fooling people they earn money.

Is it means all information on net about earning online is useless?
No, there are many ways through which one can earn money online but it’s not easy as easy it sounds. That requires lots of time, great effort and most important lots of patience. If one own website or blog, in that case one can earn by placing ads on their website or blog. For this one can try for Google ad sense, adbrite, info links and many others. Again this requires effort, initially it will be difficult to earn but yes once the traffic start building earning will increase. Website owner can also earn by promoting and selling their own product.

Keep in mind there is no ways to make quick money. Companies pay for surfing site, reading emails etc. It’s obvious any one get attracted toward those sites and companies. But earning from these sites are not easy .It totally waste of time and efforts.

It’s better to use mind before going for useless sites.

“Modern women of India are no longer captive of traditions”

In my views this is not true. In our country most of the household is being looked after by women and earning is done by the men. Women have to take care of the whole family and perform all domestic activities. She is even responsible to teach values to children. Even if a woman is working, her in- laws would either force to leave the job or they expect her to complete all household chores before leaving for the office. Is this defination of the Modern Indian Woman?

Whenever there is any argument between wife and mother, most of time husband favor his mother side. Why this happens?

Some men usually stay out of the matter. They let the two, mother and wife to reach on the conclusion. But some husbands blindly favor their mother and at last all blames fall on wife.

If mother anytime complains about her daughter in-law behavior to his son not in front of her, then she clearly tries to create gap between husband and wife. If she really wants her son to know about the situation, she must have discussed the issue in front of her daughter in law.

If mother said something that has upset her, it means there was such thing which made her cry. In this situation not reacting to situation may spoil the relation with the wife. It does not mean go and fight with mother. Husband should take the situation seriously and should try to see the wife’s view rather than defending mother.

But this is not always true. The situation may be other way round. May be wife is creating the gap between husband and her mother in law.

Husband should judge the situation wisely and tackle the situation accordingly rather than favoring either mother or wife blindly.
Both relations is of equal importance for any husband.

Should women pursue job after marriage?

This problem is common among all the women. To address this problem a girl can discuss about her continuation of job with her husband and family members. No doubt after marriage responsibility of girl increases. She has to manage work at office as well as work at home too. If women is in job and continuation of job provides her self esteem, economic security and feeling of independence, then it worth pursuing it but her job should not disturb her married life. Leaving job for husband ego or because of the clash with the husband is not a wise decision. After child, priorities of both partner changes. After the baby’s birth if she is not able to take care of everything, it’s better to quit from the job. Moreover family and baby are more important than anything unless there is financial problem. If she feel that she is meant to do something more, then there various alternatives available. She can think of starting her own crèche, play school or even start taking up tuitions.

Live-in relationship

Live in relationship is concepts under which two people live together before marriage. This concept is very common in western countries but is also spreading its root in India. This subject is controversial.

Many advocates live in relation as it allows them to understand each other better before they go for commitment. This helps them to decide whether the person they are going to marry is perfect for them or not. According to them their love for their partner does not require any certification or any stamp.

But very few live in relationship end up in marriage.

If two people love each other, is it necessary to judge each other before marriage? In love people overlook each other flaws and moreover no one is flawless. Marriage gives stability to relation, each partner share everything they have with each other.

Rakhi Celebration – 4th Aug 2009

On 4th Aug 2009 I went to play school to pick up my son, Ayush. The school has organized a Rakhi Celebration for all kids. Every girl has to tie a Rakhi on boys wrists. Celebration has been orgainised So that kids enjoy it and learn at same time. These things are necessary in today’s environment where we live in a nuclear family. And now a days working parents prefer one or two kids. Where only few are lucky to have one sister and one brother combination. So kids miss lots of things we used to get in a bigger family with lots of cousins.

After reaching I asked the school staff to call Ayush. When his teacher brought him to me, he just ran toward me and hugged me tightly and started crying. I was shocked to see him behaving like this. Many things came into my mind, has teacher said something to him or any other child has hurt him while playing etc. I rushed to teacher cabin to know the reason, his teacher replied “Nothing serious as such after rakhi celebration he started crying; even we asked him the reason”.

Then I saw rakhi on his wrist, now everything was clear. I hugged him and asked him what happned. He replied sweetly “mummy didi ne mujhe rakhi bandh diya mujhe aur tika laga diya”. Actually this was his first rakhabandhan and he was not able to make out what actually was going around.

On reaching home he removed his rakhi first. I offered him his favorite mitahyi kala jamun. I lift him up and try to tell him what rakhi celebration is all about. When I told him we will visit nani’s house tomorrow for rakhi. smile came on my face on his prompt reply that “mama bhi royega jab aap rakhi bandhoge”.

What is the base of any marriage?

Whenever any one of us confront with this question, the possible answer that comes in our mind is trust and love. Both the partner should have respect for each other and both should give importance to each other dreams. But if partners are not communicating to each other or communication is just for name sake, then from where trust will come. Neither the husband or nor the wife will be knowing much about each other. Lack of communication breeds apathy and mistrust, which over a period destroys the best of marriages.

Arguing is always good between any husband and wife as it clear all misunderstanding, but imposing of decision either on husband or wife can make the relation bitter. Decision should always be taken, considering all aspects including each other engagement, priorities etc. Otherwise, ill feelings can build up, and turn into wounds that never heal.

Never try to slight your partner, especially before others. It is one wound that never heals. Both the partner should try to change if the situation demands. Minor changes in any of the partner for his/her love can never hurt their ego or self respect.

Marriage is an emotional relationship. This only survives if both partner communicate and give importance to each other.

Please come up with your suggestion if anybody has.

How to tackle aggressiveness of kids

Most of the parents go through this problem. But there is nothing to worry about. What actually needed is your little effort and patience.

Today aggressiveness has become common behavior of most of the kids. Many times parents are solely responsible for their child behavior. Kids learn most of the behavior from their parents and if parents show their anger by hitting, throwing, or tearing, kids also follow the same.

If this is not the reason then try to tell your kid how to behave, what behavior are acceptable, by hugging and talking softly or by making story so that he can easily understand why to behave properly.

Always compliment your kid for good behavior and never remind the kid every time of his wrong behavior. Try to be the best friend of your kid and try to resolve his problem. Always listen to kid patiently.

Always try to identify the problem and involve child also in finding out the solution. This will ensure them that you are taking their side and give priorities to their views.

We should always remember that kids always look for love and affection.

Difficult Times

Today after dinner I started watching TV serial. That episode is of bidayi .I burst into tears as it took me into memories of my bidayi .I still remember that day I was crying a lot as was not able to cope with pain of separating from my parents.

I don’t know why it happens that a girl has to leave her parental house and move to a family to whom she do not know completely. She has to rely on a person about whom she is not confident whether he will support her whole life or she has to just compromise there for everything.

Think if husband or in-laws of any girl are not supporting .Then what would happen to her? Certainly she would collapse or will get into depression.

Lucky are those who get nice and supporting husband.

Totally confused

Life seems puzzled sometimes. Many a time we find it very difficult to resolve a situation. I also confronted similar situation. Three year back I got married and after few months I felt a new life in me. I was not keeping well, so I left my job. Both of us & our family members were happy as from two we are going to be three soon.

There was a battle going on inside me. I was totally messed up and confused, nothing was clear to me. I had feeling that my career now come to end, my dream of being to be a successful women in my field will never be true. These thought was haunting me and I was feeling restless.
I was looking for solution but that time I was not able to see any silver lining. After discussing my concern with my husband I decided not to look for the job until our baby turns one. After his first b’day I started to look for job, even I started with it but I felt very difficult to continue, as parting with my child for 8-10 hr start haunting me & my soul. I decided to quit my job and decided to take care of my baby.
I took this decision but still I was not happy. Many times my eyes get filled with tear because of feeling that I don’t have any identity of my own; I don’t have any position of my own. Same time I am not in favor of leaving my innocent baby in crèche.
Those days I was going through depression. On one side be a mother of a sweet baby give feeling of being on top of the world and on other side feeling of doing nothing constructive lower my morale. Over a period of time I adjusted to the situation and started to keep myself engaged in some other work and start enjoying my baby’s childhood activities.
I am lucky enough that god has gifted me a cute and sweet baby and loving husband. Now I am housewife, taking care of my baby and my husband. In free time I do whatever I love to, like watching TV, writing on my blogs, preparing different recipes. Even I am planning to start something which I can carry along with my family.

Lesson from past experience

Today everybody wants to make money as fast one can. As all of us want to posses everything, that’s why everyone of us has started looking for various different alternatives to earn more & more money to fulfill our endless desire and demands of our dependents.

There are many ways; one of them is share market. Most of the people have feeling that they can make lots of money from the share market and without making any study they just jumped into it, in end most of them incur loss.

From my past experience, I feel day trading or short term trading are good for those who are masters in this. It’s better to invest partly in the market on every dip rather in lumpsum. This will average the cost price of the share and in long term it will give good return.

Before thinking of investing in the market, one should make analysis of stocks and other factors like fundamental of the company, global scenario, political picture and others.

A long term investors always be in profit as in long term good company always grow otherwise.
So, pls think, study or consult before investing and try to invest in multibagger stocks which are capable of generating good return in 2-3 yrs of time.

I am not the expert or guru of share market but just shared my experience and view which I had in last 2 yrs.

First Day of Play School

My jaan, my darling, my baby…….
He is of two and half year now, me and my husband decided to put him in play school. We finally put him in a nearby play school.

Very next morning, every work I was doing was the same as usual but still there was something that has got changed. My heart was beating much faster. May be the fear that how my baby would react when I will take him to school causing anxiety to me.

I made him ready and took him to the play school. But when I put him down to leave there, he started shouting “Mummy main shaitani nahi karunga, mujhe aapke sath khelna hai” and started crying and rushed to me to hug me.

That moment was very difficult for both of us. I just took him and told him “beta sab school jaten hain” and gave him a toffee.

Even I broke down into tears.

That day I can never forget as I still remember his innocent eyes saying “mummy mujhe aapke paas rahna hai”.
